Kayla Van Egdom lived in Cloverdale most of her life, only recently moving to Chilliwack in 2014. Although she spent most of her childhood years playing team sports such as soccer, basketball and softball, she struggled with her weight from a very early age. She remained physically active most of her life, but struggled with emotional eating.
Through much trial and error, Kayla began freeing herself from destructive eating behaviours and negative self-image problems. After graduating from Simon Fraser University with an English major and Business minor, she realized she wanted to use her past experiences to help others also struggling with their health.
Since then, Kayla has received her BCRPA Personal Trainer certification and is continuing her education in the Kinesiology field. She has maintained over forty pounds of weight loss, discovered a passion for distance running and has become comfortable with being a work in progress. She has given up the need for perfectionism, instead seeing the ongoing journey towards better health as one of self-care rather than punishment, and she hopes to help clients do the same.
In addition to running and training, Kayla enjoys hiking, reading and writing novels.
